WINE- South African "Darling" Sauvignon Blanc 2007.
Trouble with buying wine in supermarkets is that there's so much of it. When we get a good one we say "Hmmm.. must make a note of that.." And we never do. Maybe I'll spot it on the shelves next week? Not a chance. So, when I find a really good bottle, I'll note it down here - mostly so that I can remember it myself and if helps you too, so much the better. Together we'll build up a wine list we can trust. So, "Light My Fire's" first wine recommendation is a South African Sauvignon Blanc from Tesco. So you can spot it, it's in a green bottle with a green label and has the word DARLING in gold lettering across the front. It's not exactly vintage - it's 2007 for God's sake. If you believe the label it has "vibrant aromas of gooseberry and citrus fruits". If you believe me it's just a bloody good full-flavoured white. I'm sorry it's from Tesco. The bastards have ripped the heart out of our High Street and I still go there, but not as often as I used to.
